The rain in Spain falls mostly on the plains

Hotels in Spain are easy to find because there are so many tourists now. However, it is best to check out hotels online before you go and book at least one night. When you step off the plane, it is a nice feeling to know that you have a place to lay your head that night. You don't want to be wandering around the streets looking for hotels in Barcelona without having any specific destination in mind. If you book a hotel online, then you can give the taxi driver a specific address and go directly there.

It is advisable to get a map before you go, or at least buy one as you leave the airport. Although Spanish taxi drivers are not known for their nasty ways, it is always better to know the lay of the land before you step into a taxi. If you have a specific address and you know more or less how many kilometers the hotel is away from the airport, you will have a better chance of not getting burned by a nasty taxi driver.

Once you get to your hotel in Barcelona, the best way to get around the city is by bicycle. You can get from one end of the city to the other in about 1 hour, and there is lots to see. Although an organized tour is also good, a good map is also fine. Remember to drink lots of water (bottled water is best) because it can get very hot in Barcelona during the summer months. It is best to travel there when it is not so hot, but winter is not advisable because in winter, the rain falls all over the country, not just on the plains.
